In the Parsvnath Panorama Society of Greater Noida, a shocking scenario unfolded. Inside a flat, high-tech cannabis cultivation was taking place; the cannabis was being grown in pots from seeds imported from California. Upon a raid by the police and narcotics department, it was revealed that Rahul Chaudhary from Meerut had initiated premium cannabis farming inside his flat using modern aeroponics technology. This illicit trade was conducted via the dark web, netting him around 250,000 monthly.
Information indicates that the 37-year-old Rahul Chaudhary, originally from Meerut, was residing in a flat in the Parsvnath Panorama Society of Greater Noida. An English graduate, he ventured into cannabis cultivation inside his flat using advanced techniques. Rahul had procured high-quality 'OG' cannabis seeds from California for his venture.
To further evolve his business, he deployed advanced aeroponics technology, where plants grow without soil, thriving only on water, nutrients, and specialized artificial lights. The setup cost ranged from 5,000 to 7,000 per plant, but for 30 grams of produce, Rahul fetched over 60,000 inv rupees per transaction.
Dark Web Trade, On-Demand Supply
To cloak his operations from the police and narcotics unit, Rahul exploited the dark web. He liaised with clients through encrypted messaging platforms, catering exclusively to those appreciative of the OG cannabis variety and its price point. This strategy ensured him a steady monthly income of approximately 250,000.
In-Flat Sophisticated Setup: Lighting, Temperature, and Humidity Control
Rahul’s flat was no less than a nursery. It housed numerous specialized lights and equipment, simulating natural sunlight and ambient moisture for optimal plant growth. Every environmental aspect of the flat was regulated to negate the necessity of external conditions for the cannabis nursery.
How Was It Exposed? Follower’s Information Led to a Police Tip
The unveiling of Rahul Chaudhary’s entire plot occurred when society members noticed unusual activities and alerted the police. Subsequent investigations by the police and narcotics cell led to a raid coordinated with Beta-2 and Ecotech-1 station officials.
According to the police, 80 cannabis plants and over 2 kilograms of high-quality cannabis have been confiscated, along with plant cultivation equipment, packaging material, and digital scales. Greater Noida DCP Saad Miya Khan reported that the accused had cultivated premium cannabis in over 50 pots across several rooms.
Special lights were installed to compensate for the lack of natural sunlight in the flat, creating an environment akin to direct sunlight beneficial for the plants. The suspect has been apprehended, and the network is under scrutiny to determine any additional accomplices. The arrest has propelled the police to delve into Rahul's network. This wave of high-tech farming represents a novel trend where criminals exploit residential zones for illegal narcotics operations.
