The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) created quite a stir before the 10th match of the Asia Cup 2025 against UAE. Ever since their defeat by India, Pakistan’s frustration is palpable. PCB set forth two main demands to the ICC ahead of the UAE encounter. Pakistan claimed they wouldn't play the match scheduled for Wednesday unless these demands were met. However, ICC outright refused any of these demands, leading to Pakistan facing more embarrassment.
In fact, the PCB requested ICC to remove umpire Andy Pycroft as the match referee. PCB alleged that Pycroft's umpiring brought embarrassment to their team. This was linked to the incident post the India-Pakistan match where Indian players did not shake hands, a gesture they said was in solidarity with victims of the Pahalgam terrorist attack. PCB held Pycroft accountable for this, but ICC rejected PCB's demand.
PCB has requested that umpire Andy Pycroft be removed from officiating the Asia Cup matches. Pakistani authorities accuse Pycroft of biased umpiring, which they believe is unfair to their team. PCB contends that the presence of such an umpire compromises team security and fair play.
PCB demanded stringent action from the ICC against Indian team captain Suryakumar Yadav. The board alleged that after winning the India-Pakistan match, Suryakumar made political comments, violating the decorum of cricket. PCB urged ICC to impose a penalty on Yadav to deter similar future comments.
It's crucial to note that both India and Pakistan are in Group-B, composed of four teams total. Team India has won both of its matches and advanced to the Super-4. Meanwhile, Oman exited the competition after losing both its matches. A clash looms between Pakistan and the UAE to secure a spot in the Super-4 alongside India.
