Ever since Operation Sindoor, a relentless wave of fear has engulfed Pakistan. The country's military and political leadership are ensnared in a shadow of anxiety. Media reports have consistently highlighted Army Chief General Asim Munir wearing a bulletproof jacket while visiting Libya. On December 24, when addressing the 273rd Corps Commander Conference in Rawalpindi, Munir stood behind bulletproof glass.

During Operation Sindoor, it was acknowledged by President Asif Ali Zardari himself that he had sought refuge in a bunker, fearing an Indian strike. These events collectively expose the insecurities within Pakistan's leadership.

Launched by India in May 2025, this operation has shaken Pakistan's military and political landscape, leaving a lingering atmosphere of dread throughout the country.

During Asim Munir's recent visit to Libya, rumors abounded about Pakistan sealing a $4 billion arms deal with the rebel government there.

However, the accent of his trip was Munir’s attire.

Experts assess that during this visit, Munir wore a bulletproof jacket beneath his military uniform, which is evident in the rapidly circulating photos on social media showing distinct outlines on his uniform, indicating the presence of protective gear.

Pictures from his Libyan visit showcase an unusually bulky and disarranged appearance to his outfit.

In Pakistan, leaders of Imran Khan’s PTI party have persistently argued that Asim Munir is so fearful that he never steps out without a bulletproof jacket.

PTI's Mirza Shahzad Akbar has criticized him, stating he is plagued by fear and always shielded by bulletproof protection.

Pakistan's defense expert Moeed Pirzada has strongly chastised Asim Munir on this matter.

What Makes a Bulletproof Vest

Advanced ballistic vests offer a specialized form of body armor capable of safeguarding against bullets, shrapnel, and sharp weapons like knives. They are lighter, more flexible, and sturdier than traditional options and are designed for military, police, and civilian use. By 2025, new technologies such as nanotechnology, graphene, and smart sensors have reduced their weight by 30-40% while enhancing protection.

Regarding Asim Munir's bulletproof attire, Syed Khan a social media user, remarked, 'This cowardly so-called Field Marshal Asim Munir, doesn’t even trust his own military forces, hence why he constantly wears a bulletproof jacket. This sentiment echoes among other social media users.

Asif Zardari’s Bunker Confession

Fear driven by bulletproof jackets and shields was apparent merely in images. President Asif Ali Zardari has openly admitted to seeking shelter during Operation Sindoor. On December 27, 2025, at a public gathering marking Benazir Bhutto’s death anniversary, Zardari revealed that during India's operation in May 2025, his military secretary advised him to hide in a bunker.

Zardari recounted, "Sir, the war has begun, let’s move to the bunker." Although warned of impending conflict days prior, he responded, “If martyrdom is destined, it will happen here. Leaders don’t die in bunkers, but on the battlefield.” This statement reflects the impact of India’s precise military actions in response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack, which instilled fear within Pakistan’s leadership.
