The recent increase in crime in Bihar and the Chandan Mishra murder case placed ADG (Law and Order) Kundan Krishnan in the spotlight, particularly over his remarks about farmers. He clarified that his statements were misrepresented, inadvertently hurting the farming community's feelings, and expressed his apologies to anyone offended by his words.

Last week, ADG Kundan Krishnan, during a press conference, explained that crimes tend to rise in Bihar between April and June because it's the off-season between two crop cycles, resulting in temporary unemployment among farm laborers. He further noted that some individuals might resort to crimes like 'contract killing' during this period. This statement garnered strong reactions from political circles and farmer organizations.

Now, ADG has had to offer an explanation. On Saturday, in a released video, ADG Kundan Krishnan emphasized, "It was never my intention to associate farmers or providers with crime. I hold the farming community in high regard, as my ancestors were also farmers. I remain connected to my roots, respecting agriculture and farming deeply."

He added, "If my statement offended anyone, I sincerely apologize. It was never my intention to disrespect anyone."

Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Also Cleared the Air

Following ADG's remarks, Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Vijay Sinha also had to clarify. He unequivocally stated that farmers are providers, not criminals. Farmers work hard to feed others, not engage in crime. "It's those who eat for free who make such claims. We have not heard ADG's entire statement, but whatever was mentioned is not appropriate. Farmers have no connection with crime," he said.
