In Aligarh, a mother-in-law and son-in-law, who lived as husband and wife for ten months, are in the news again. Once committed to living together, these two individuals are now entrenched in serious allegations against one another. This saga of love, trust, betrayal, and claims of harassment has become bewilderingly complicated. In an open conversation, Rahul shares his side of the story for the first time.
Rahul claims they lived together in the Bela police jurisdiction of Sitamarhi district. 'We were living there, everyone knew, nothing was hidden from anyone,' he asserts. He recounts an evening where he went out around 8:30 PM, and by 9:30 PM, she had also left, vanishing without a trace. Rahul accuses his mother-in-law of fleeing with two lakh rupees, a mangalsutra, and two rings from their home. 'She took away all my money and jewelry,' he accuses, pointing out the unjust allegations against him. He also suspects some involvement from her relatives, including her brother-in-law, sister, and former husband. Rahul fears a legal backlash, speculating, 'They might contact me through the children, or they might file a case against me to get me jailed.' Despite his fears, he adds, 'If I'm at fault, I should be punished.'
From ten months of togetherness to a storm of allegations
Initially, everything was normal, Rahul claims. They lived lovingly, comfortable with their situation, and the relevant officials were aware. 'We were like a live-in couple, and there was no coercion,' he recalls. The woman, however, presents a completely different narrative. According to her statement to the police, 'I did not elope with anyone; I was trapped.' For her, the first month was fine, but then conditions deteriorated. 'He started confining me, wouldn't allow me to go anywhere, even administered sedatives,' she alleges. As for the cash and jewelry she brought along, she claims Rahul squandered it all, now unfairly accusing her.
'I escaped from his grip.'
The woman insists she barely managed to escape. 'I got away from his grip,' she asserts, alleging he now seeks to malign her reputation. She questions, 'If I were guilty, why would I approach the police myself?' According to her, the story being spinned against her is one-sided. 'I just want the truth to emerge,' she pleads.
Rahul's rebuttal
Rahul flatly denies these accusations. 'There was no abuse or confinement,' he insists, questioning why these allegations arose only after ten months. Rahul counters, claiming that the woman had a history of shifting allegiances — leaving one for another, and so on. 'No one is with me now, neither my parents nor siblings; everyone is upset because of me,' he laments. Ultimately, all Rahul desires is liberation from this relationship, professing, 'I just want to be free from her, no matter the penalty.'
