Amid the excitement of the World Athletics Championships 2025 javelin throw final taking place in Tokyo, Indian fans pinned their hopes on Neeraj Chopra. However, disappointment loomed as Neeraj finished eighth. Meanwhile, Pakistani Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem secured a tenth-place finish. In the midst of it all, Sachin Yadav emerged as India’s beacon of hope.
Sachin Yadav delivered his career-best throw in his first attempt, reaching a distance of 86.27 meters. There was a moment when bronze seemed within his grasp, but an impressive throw by Keshorn Walcott put Sachin in fourth. Sachin was a mere 40 centimeters shy of the bronze, ultimately claimed by USA's Curtis Thompson with a throw of 86.67 meters, surpassing Sachin by just 40 centimeters.
Sachin deftly maintained his position in the medal race throughout his six attempts. His initial throw remained unmatched as his finest. Despite fouling in his second attempt, Sachin showcased his prowess with a third throw that marked 85.71 meters. His fourth throw fell just 10 centimeters short of 85 meters. His fifth attempt was spectacular, hitting 85.96 meters, while his sixth settled at 80.95 meters.
Three Throws Surpass 85 Meters
Despite not clinching a medal, Sachin Yadav hurled beyond 85 meters three times, a commendable feat. He secured a place in the finals by ranking sixth in his group with an 83.67-meter throw in the qualification round, resulting in an overall tenth placement. The finals featured 12 elite javelin throwers.
