A shocking incident emerges from Banda, Uttar Pradesh, where a man took a loan in his wife's name after his dowry demands for a motorcycle and cash were not met. Subsequently, he threw his wife out of their home and threatened to remarry if she did not pay the loan installments. The police have registered a case following the woman's complaint and initiated an investigation.
This event was reported in the Atarra police area, where a newlywed woman filed a complaint at the women's police station describing her ordeal. Shortly after her wedding in 2022 to a man from Madhya Pradesh, demands for a motorcycle and five lakh rupees surfaced. Soon after, she began facing torment. The victim told her parents about the incidents and refused to return to her in-laws' house.
Case of molestation filed against the father-in-law
She recounted experiences of molestation and illicit advances by her father-in-law. When she informed her husband, they moved from Indore to Delhi. But there, he began to assault her, demanding dowry. Eventually, he left, taking her Aadhaar and PAN card with him. The victim returned home. Days later, she discovered her husband had taken a loan of 70,000 rupees in her name.
Police commenced investigation after registering a case
Her husband then started pressing her to pay the loan installments, threatening to remarry if she did not comply. Following this, the aggrieved woman went to the women's police station and filed a case against her husband and in-laws under several charges including dowry harassment, assault, and abandonment. The station officer, Moni Nishad, stated that they are investigating the case and will proceed accordingly.
