The Indian Air Force is in dire need of advanced multi-role fighter aircraft. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled for a pivotal visit to Russia from July 8 to 10, 2024. It is anticipated that during his meeting with President Vladimir Putin, Russia may once again extend a proposal for the joint production of the formidable Su-57 fighter jets.

Last November, Rosoboronexport, the manufacturer of the Su-57, presented this offer to India. However, the Indian Air Force's own AMCA project is at least a decade from completion, while China already boasts about 200 fifth-generation fighter jets.

By 2030, Pakistan is expected to acquire fifth-generation fighter jets from either China or Turkey. It's possible that India might procure these jets from the US or Russia even sooner, but the timeline is currently unclear. Nevertheless, we can understand the might of Russia's most formidable fighter jet.

India currently is not interested in the Russian fighter jet, focusing on developing two indigenous jets: the AMCA and the TEDBF. The Su-57 is ranked second among the world's most dangerous fighter jets and is Russia's first stealth aircraft.
