Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget on Tuesday. This budget has sparked a variety of claims. The opposition is criticizing the budget, whereas the central government describes it as empowering all classes. A significant question that has arisen is whether the central government is going to discontinue schemes like MGNREGA and the Farmers' Honor Fund. The Finance Minister has clarified this after the budget.
What the Finance Minister Said
In an interview with DD post-budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that she delivered an approximately 82-minute speech in the House today. It's important to understand that in one and a half hours, it isn't realistic to address every topic. However, just because I did not speak on certain subjects does not mean that all these schemes will be discontinued. She clarified that schemes like MGNREGA, PM SVANidhi, and Mudra will continue. Even though she did not address these subjects, these schemes will keep running.
On Not Naming States in Her Speech
The Finance Minister addressed concerns that she did not name various states during her speech. She clarified that even though specific states were not mentioned, all schemes would still apply to them. For instance, she explained that even without mentioning Maharashtra in the budget, a major port is being developed there.
Mention of the East Development Plan
During this period, the Finance Minister addressed questions about why she did not mention West Bengal in her speech. She clarified that the benefits of every scheme will also reach Bengal. The East Development Plan, announced in this budget for northeastern states, will benefit Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Bengal.
