In a shocking incident at Uluberia Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay Medical College and Hospital in West Bengal, a woman junior doctor was attacked by a traffic home guard on Monday evening. According to police sources, Sheikh Babulal (35), a home guard from Uluberia Traffic Guard, had brought a female relative to the hospital's maternity ward. Accompanying him were 10 to 12 others. At that time, a woman junior doctor was on duty in the ward.
It is alleged that after the doctor examined his relative, Babulal and his group became aggressive. The accused impersonated a police officer and used offensive language toward the woman doctor. He twisted her arm, punched her neck, and threatened to rape her if she left the ward.
Home Guard Attacks Female Junior Doctor
The terrifying incident left the doctor shaken. Nurses and ward attendants at the scene intervened to rescue the doctor. Subsequently, the distressed doctor reported the incident and lodged a written complaint at the Uluberia police station that night.
In her complaint, the doctor mentioned that there were no security guards present around the ward at the time, which allowed the attack to happen effortlessly. The police have commenced an investigation. Initial probes have led to the detention of the home guard and another person for questioning.
Police File Case, Initiate Investigation
Subimal Pal, the Superintendent of Rural Police, stated that both accused are being interrogated, and investigations are ongoing. They were arrested later, and today they will be presented in Uluberia Court.
