As the Jharkhand Assembly elections approach, there are indications that former Chief Minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Champai Soren might join the BJP. In a lengthy post on his X handle, Soren suggested that he will soon leave the JMM. Meanwhile, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi nearly confirmed this on social media, suggesting Soren's imminent inclusion in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Tagging Champai Soren, Jitan Ram Manjhi wrote on X, ‘Champai Da, you were, are, and always will be a Tiger. Welcome to the NDA family. Johar Tiger.’ It's noteworthy that Manjhi's party, Hindustani Awam Morcha, is part of the BJP-led NDA. In Modi's third term, Jitan Ram Manjhi serves as the MSME Minister. Champai Soren is known as the ‘Tiger of Kolhan’ for his role in the formation of the separate Jharkhand state after separating from Bihar.

Amidst speculations of him joining the BJP, Champai Soren shared a long post on the social media platform X, discussing three potential future paths after a lot of 'self-reflection'. The JMM leader said on Sunday that after stepping down as Chief Minister, his self-respect was hurt, and he had a bitter experience regarding his role within the party, which forced him to explore alternative routes.
Champai Soren made this post immediately after arriving in Delhi, further fueling speculations about his BJP accession. He alleged that during the first week of July, all his official programs were suddenly canceled by the party leadership without his knowledge, even while he held the Chief Minister position. In his post, he wrote, ‘When I inquired about the reasons for canceling the programs, I was told that there was a meeting of party legislators on July 3, and until then, I couldn't participate in any official programs.’
