Note that after the sequence of events, the procession returned without completing the marriage rites. The bride's send-off did not occur, and the incident has become the talk of the town. Police indicated action had been taken under section 151 for disturbing the peace.
Regarding the incident, the bride’s father explained that on Monday night, his two daughters’ weddings were taking place. While his eldest daughter’s marriage to a young man from Mohalla Subhashnagar concluded without incident, an uproar occurred during the youngest daughter’s garland exchange when the groom forcefully kissed her. This triggered a dispute that quickly escalated to physical violence.
After the verbal altercation, the situation intensified to such an extent that the groom’s party resorted to attacking with sticks, batons, and rods as well as stone-pelting. Six people, including the bride's father, were seriously injured. Although the procession initially departed without achieving its purpose, the marriage was later solemnized with the same groom.
On this case, Hapur’s SP Abhishek Verma reported that they had received information about the dispute during the wedding ceremony. As of now, there hasn't been any formal complaint received from any parties involved. Should any formal report be submitted, further action would be taken. Meanwhile, the police issued a peace disturbance ticket to some individuals onsite.
