It's reported that prior to these arrests, a team from the Mumbai Crime Branch had uncovered a pistol and live cartridges in Surat's Tapi River. They claim these were the same weapons used in the brazen attack on April 14th at Khan's residence.
The weapons will be sent for further ballistic analysis at FSL's Ballistic Department. According to shooters Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, they disposed of the arms and ammunition in the Tapi River post the execution of their plan. Here's what Mumbai's Crime Branch discovered during their search operation in Tapi River, Surat:
Pistols: 2
Magazines: 3
Live cartridges: 13
Reconnaissance Base Secured in Panvel:
Before carrying out the attack, the assailants received approximately one lakh rupees from their handlers. Utilizing the funds, they rented a house, bought a bike, and managed their daily expenses. They took a rental home about 13 kilometers from Khan's Panvel farmhouse and conducted surveillance from there. They had promised to complete the task in exchange for the remaining payment. This led them to travel from Champaran to Mumbai Central on February 28th.
