In Madhya Pradesh, Congress MLA Arif Masood has expressed objections regarding the survey of Waqf lands. He has addressed his concerns to JPC Chair Jagdambika Pal, MP Chief Secretary, and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, urging them to suspend the survey.

According to MLA Masood, the current procedures for surveying Waqf lands could lead to conflicts in the future. He has raised three main objections concerning the ongoing survey.

Masood stated that since the publication of the Revenue Gazette from 1983 to 1989, the closure settlement in Madhya Pradesh has naturally complicated revenue entry matching. The requested information from the state documents lists properties either under the names of caretakers (those serving at shrines), governmental denominations, or private individuals.

Masood pointed out, the reality is that it is vital to label the survey records of Waqf lands as 'Waqf Board Non-transferable.' A related matter is still pending in the Jabalpur High Court. As a result, any information on this issue remains legally restricted. The survey has been partially fulfilled, lacking physical verification.

The MLA questioned, who are illegally occupying the Waqf agricultural lands meant for shrines or cemeteries? Furthermore, are the caretakers illicitly selling these lands through notaries?

Arif Masood has urged Muslim organizations to lodge their objections regarding the survey with their respective district collectors.

It is noteworthy that the Madhya Pradesh Government, following JPC directives, has ordered the survey of Waqf properties in MP.
