'Vote Against the Waqf Bill...', Muslim Personal Law Board Appeals to NDA Allies

Muslim leaders have labeled the bill unconstitutional and are opposing it. The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has appealed to all secular political parties, including BJP allies and MPs, to not vote in favor of the Waqf Amendment Bill.

Support Sought by Muslim Personal Law Board on Waqf Bill

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has urged all secular political parties, BJP's allies, and parliamentarians to staunchly oppose the Waqf Amendment Bill. The board contends that this bill will deeply interfere with the management of waqf properties and undermine minority communities' rights. AIMPLB clearly emphasized in its statement that under no circumstances should this bill be supported by votes.

Some BJP Muslim leaders claim it is essential for Muslims, while opposition Muslim leaders argue it infringes upon Muslims' rights. Even among Muslim clerics and organizations, there is no consensus regarding the bill, with some supporting it and others branding it dangerous.

Unified Opposition Against the Waqf Bill

Today (Wednesday), the Lok Sabha will debate and vote on the Waqf Amendment Bill. Parties led by Nitish Kumar, Chandrababu Naidu, Chirag Paswan, and Jayant Chaudhary have stated their support for the bill, whereas the opposition stands against it, even as the Modi government anticipates a majority.

The opposition convened a meeting on Tuesday, branding the proposed law by the Modi government as divisive and unconstitutional. Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge stated that all opposition parties are unanimously opposing this bill.
