On Sunday, April 6th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a significant visit to Tamil Nadu. Celebrating Ram Navami, PM Modi will inaugurate India's first vertical lift sea bridge, the new Pamban Rail Bridge, around noon. Alongside, he will also kickstart a new train service and a ship launch. This monumental event will take place in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu.

Following the grand inauguration, PM Modi will visit the sacred Ramanathaswamy Temple in Rameswaram, offering prayers around 12:45 PM. By 1:30 PM, he will unveil more than 8,300 crores INR worth of various rail and road projects, dedicating them to the nation. He is also set to address the audience during this momentous occasion.

This new Pamban Rail Bridge, connecting Rameswaram to the mainland, is a stellar representation of Indian engineering excellence on the global stage.

Constructed at a Cost of 700 Crores

Built at an expense of over 700 crores INR, this bridge spans 2.08 km, equipped with 99 spans and a 72.5-meter vertical lift span that rises 17 meters. This elevation ensures smooth maritime navigation while allowing uninterrupted train operations.

Built with high-grade stainless steel, protective paint, and fully welded joints, this bridge promises longevity with minimal maintenance. It's designed to meet future demands, with a special polysiloxane coating to prevent rust.

PM Modi to Lay Foundations for Projects Worth 8,300 Crores

Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation for over 8,300 crores INR worth of diverse rail and road projects across Tamil Nadu. This includes laying the foundation for the four-lane stretch of NH-40's 28 km Walajapet-Ranipet section, the 29 km Viluppuram-Puducherry section of NH-332, the 57 km Poondiankuppam-Sattanathapuram section of NH-32, and the 48 km Cholapuram-Thanjavur section of NH-36, all dedicated to the nation. These national highways will interconnect numerous pilgrimage and tourism sites, reducing travel distances between cities and vital locations like medical colleges, hospitals, and ports.
