The Indian smartphone market has experienced considerable upheaval. While some companies faced a decline in shipments, others surged ahead, claiming the top spot. According to Canalys reports, shipments of Samsung and Xiaomi have fallen, yet the Chinese company Vivo has emerged victorious. Let’s uncover more about this.

The Indian smartphone market remained volatile in the first quarter of 2025, decreasing by 8 percent year-on-year to 32.4 million units. This decline largely impacted Chinese brand Xiaomi and the South Korean company Samsung.

Vivo Captures 22 Percent Market Share

Reports reveal that the Chinese brand Vivo secured a 22 percent market share, shipping approximately 7 million units. This placed the company in the leading position for the first quarter.

Samsung Holds the Second Position

Samsung ranked second as well, with its shipments showing a 23 percent decline. Samsung's market share decreased from 19 percent to 16 percent.

Xiaomi Secures Third Place

According to reports, Xiaomi ranked third. Xiaomi’s shipments plummeted by 38 percent, including the Poco Sub Brand. Here, Xiaomi's market share fell from 18 percent to 12 percent. However, Xiaomi experienced some gains in the affordable segment following the launch of the Redmi 14c 5G.

Fourth and Fifth Positions

Other Chinese brands, OPPO and Realme, saw an increase in shipments. OPPO experienced a 5 percent shipment increase, and Realme 3 percent. Their shipments were 3.9 million and 3.5 million units, respectively. OPPO secured the fourth spot, and Realme held the fifth position.
