Virat Kohli is all set to showcase his skills in the third match for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The renowned batsman is expected to play against Railway on January 6 at the Indian Cricket Control Board (BCCI) Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. Rohan Jaitley, president of the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA), confirmed Kohli's availability to Aaj Tak. He stated that Kohli will participate in three matches.
Kohli in Fantastic Form
Kohli's stellar form was evident in the two domestic matches he played, where he scored impressive innings of 131 and 77 runs, respectively. With these performances, he crossed the 16,000-run mark in List-A cricket, becoming the fastest to do so and surpassing Sachin Tendulkar.
Earlier in the season, before domestic matches, Kohli also shone in the ODI series against South Africa, scoring two consecutive centuries followed by a half-century, helping India to a 2-1 series victory.
Joining the Indian Team on January 8
Reports suggest that the Indian team will assemble in Vadodara on January 8, with Kohli likely to arrive a day earlier to start his training. The three-match ODI series against New Zealand kicks off on January 11, with the first match scheduled in Vadodara.
ODI Series Without Pandya and Bumrah
According to reports, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah will not participate in this three-match ODI series. Both players are pivotal to India's T20 World Cup 2026 campaign, as India, the reigning champions, aim to defend the title on home soil. Pandya and Bumrah's roles will be crucial if India is to script history by defending the T20 title successfully.
