Amidst this, the director of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has made an impactful statement concerning the team's captaincy.
This statement has fueled speculation that Virat Kohli might again assume the role of captain for the RCB team. RCB's director Mo Bobat mentioned that after the first day's conclusion of the IPL mega auction, Kohli sent some noteworthy messages to the team management during the night.
The Decision on RCB's Captaincy Will Be Kohli's
According to the director of RCB, the decision on the team's captaincy is entirely left to Virat Kohli by the management. He will determine whether he leads the team or someone else. This statement indicates that regardless of who the official captain is, Kohli's influence remains significant within the team.
RCB director Mo Bobat stated, 'Virat is a vital member of our team. He is a senior player. However, we have now left the captaincy decision to him. He sent us some significant messages yesterday.'
Du Plessis and Maxwell Not Acquired
RCB retained Virat Kohli for 210 million INR just before the IPL auction. Along with Kohli, RCB retained Rajat Patidar for 110 million INR and Yash Dayal for 50 million INR. On the other hand, RCB released captain Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, and Mohammad Siraj and did not acquire them in the auction.
RCB's highest bid was for fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, who was bought for 125 million INR. In addition, they acquired Phil Salt for 115 million INR, Jitesh Sharma for 110 million INR, Bhuvneshwar Kumar for 107.5 million INR, and Liam Livingstone for 87.5 million INR. RCB also purchased Krunal Pandya for 57.5 million INR.
