A massive fire erupted on Wednesday afternoon in a residential complex in Tai Po district, Hong Kong, sending the city into chaos. Flames suddenly engulfed multiple tall buildings within the Wang Fuk Court complex, home to 2,000 apartments. Thick, dark smoke spread far and wide, causing panic. So far, 36 lives have been lost and around 300 individuals are missing. The rescue operation is ongoing.

According to government officials, the fire began at approximately 2:51 PM local time and rapidly spread across several floors of the 31-storey towers. Due to the severity, the Fire Services Department declared it a "Level-5 Alarm Fire," the most serious classification in Hong Kong.
