The India-Pakistan conflict that began over six months ago continues to reveal tales of valor and bravery. On May 7, just hours after India launched 'Operation Sindoor' and destroyed nine terrorist camps, Pakistan targeted the Uri Hydroelectric Power Projects in Jammu & Kashmir.
However, the CISF turned a looming crisis into a remarkable story of courage.
This event unfolded when 19 CISF personnel were commended by the Director General for their exceptional bravery in safeguarding vital national infrastructure. These courageous souls provide security to the Uri Hydroelectric Power Projects (UHEP-I & II) near the Line of Control (LoC).
How was the Uri Attack Averted?
On May 7, in retaliation to the Pahalgam attack, India launched Operation Sindoor shortly after midnight, demolishing nine terrorist camps within Pakistan. Mere hours later, Pakistan responded with intense, indiscriminate shelling across the LoC and launched drone strikes.
The prime target was the Uri Hydro Plant, positioned on the Jhelum River in Baramulla district, perilously close to the Line of Control. This was a threat not only to the plant but also to the civilian population in the vicinity.
