The High Court Reserved Its Order on August 24th

According to a news agency, the bench of Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari and Justice Pankaj Purohit dismissed a lower court order that extended time for filing the charge sheet. The High Court reserved its verdict on August 24th.

Prominent advocate Nitya Ramakrishnan appeared on behalf of the accused in the High Court. In reaction to the madrasa demolition on February 8th, several individuals set vehicles on fire, including those belonging to police and media, outside the Banbhoolpura police station.

Nainital police issued a statement mentioning that under Section 43 D of UAPA, the investigator has the right to request the extension of the remand period post 90 days. Recognizing this, the subordinate court extended the remand from 90 to 180 days, and the police filed the charge sheet before the 180-day deadline.
