Viral social media clips depict ballot boxes at Washington polling booths spewing smoke. A local police official noted that ballots weren't cleared by 8 am local time, leading to their destruction.
The Vancouver Police Department relayed receiving reports at 4 am Monday about a blaze, discovering a suspicious device beside the ballot box upon arrival, which was subsequently removed.
Amanda McMillan, Assistant Chief at the Portland Police Department, stated an investigation is ongoing to determine whether these fires were intentional acts or unfortunate accidents.
Suspicious Device Found Near Ballot Boxes!
An intriguing twist reveals a suspicious device was attached to the afflicted ballot boxes in Washington and Oregon. Greg Kimsey, Auditor for Clark County, Washington, labeled the incident a direct assault on democracy. Although fire suppression systems were installed, a deficiency in the Vancouver ballot box's system led to the annihilation of thousands of votes.
An official from Portland remarked both incidents in Washington and Portland might be interconnected, drawing parallels with an earlier October 8 incident where a suspicious device was found by a ballot box in Vancouver, which, fortunately, remained unscathed.
