The Stadium's Glorious Past

The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium was initially constructed for the 1982 Asian Games and was renovated for the 2010 Commonwealth Games. It has long been one of India's most iconic multi-sport venues. With a seating capacity of about 60,000, the stadium has hosted numerous significant events, including athletics competitions, football matches, large concerts, and national ceremonies, such as Independence Day celebrations. It has historically served as the home venue for the national athletics team, playing a pivotal role in India's sports history for more than four decades.
