In Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, the great-granddaughter of the legendary Kakori hero, Thakur Roshan Singh, Sarita Singh, has undergone a gender change and transformed into Sharad Singh. Following this transformation, Sharad donned the groom’s attire and celebrated marriage with Savita from Pilibhit. Their beautiful ceremony took place on November 23.
Reflecting on this pivotal moment, Sharad Singh expressed his joy, stating, 'My dream has finally come true. For 18 years, Savita has been by my side as my shadow, and it is due to her support that I wear the groom's headgear today.' Savita, radiating happiness, shared, 'I am so overjoyed that words fail me.'
Living in Navada village, Khudaganj, Sharad Singh is employed as an assistant teacher in Bhawal Kheda block. The journey to transformation began in 2020, with hormone therapy in Lucknow that brought about physical changes like facial hair and a deeper voice.
Desire to be a boy from the start
Even as Sarita, now Sharad, always sported boyish attire, leading to social challenges and remarks. Yet, Sharad remained undeterred. About three months ago, a surgery in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, completed her transition. This was followed by official recognition with a gender change certificate and identity card.
