The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused Congress of making 'false promises' to win the Lok Sabha elections. Following the announcement by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge that if the 'INDIA' alliance comes to power, the current government's provision of five kilograms of grains would be increased to ten kilograms of grains, the BJP attacked Congress for misleading the public.

Responding to questions regarding the declaration made by the Congress President, BJP senior leader Arjun Ram Meghwal commented, 'Kharge is lying.' He added, 'They want to seize power by making false promises. People will not forgive them and won't trust their words.'

Earlier that day in a joint press conference with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow, Kharge declared that if the India Bloc comes to power, the quantity of free rations given by the BJP government to the poor will be doubled.

Referencing the Modi government's program to provide five kilograms of ration monthly to the impoverished, the Congress chief stated, 'Congress brought the Food Security Act; you (Modi government) did nothing.'

He proclaimed, 'You're providing five kilograms. If the INDIA Bloc forms the government, we will give ten kilograms of ration to the poor.' The Congress leader confidently affirmed, 'I say this with a guarantee because we have done this in states including Telangana and Karnataka.' Meghwal, targeting Kharge, alleged that Congress failed to fulfill the promises they made to the people of Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Karnataka upon coming to power.

Meghwal said, 'I am from Rajasthan. They made a false promise of forgiving farmers' debts. In Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka too, they've made false promises.' He revealed, 'The Supreme Court had ordered the Manmohan Singh government to distribute the rotting grains in FCI godowns to the poor. Kharge was a minister then. At that time you (Congress government) said, who is the Supreme Court to instruct us.'
