U19 World Cup 2026 Prize Money: On a thrilling Friday, India emerged victorious in the 2026 Under-19 World Cup. The Indian team clinched the championship by defeating England by a whopping 100 runs at the Harare Sports Club. Vaibhav Suryavanshi was the standout, scoring an incredible 175 runs off just 80 balls, cementing the grand victory. Despite their stellar performance, the International Cricket Council (ICC) will not be awarding any prize money to the Indian players.

Under the adept captaincy of Aayush Mhatre, the Indian Under-19 team showcased exceptional skills throughout the tournament. However, due to the ICC's classification of this event as a developmental tournament, no participating team receives prize money.

The ICC believes that the Under-19 World Cup is crucial for guiding and fostering young talent. Cricket boards already get a share of ICC revenues for cricket development purposes, making separate prize money for this tournament redundant.

Nonetheless, this doesn't mean the players will leave empty-handed. While the ICC may not provide prize money, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has a storied history of offering substantial rewards to victorious Under-19 teams.

In 2022, under the leadership of Yash Dhull, the Indian Under-19 World Cup-winning team was awarded ₹40 lakhs per player and ₹25 lakhs for the support staff by the BCCI. Similarly, the Indian teams, triumphant in the Under-19 Women's World Cup in 2023 and 2025, received a combined prize pool of ₹5 crores.

There is optimism that soon Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Aayush Mhatre, and their teammates will have a reward announcement from the BCCI. It's anticipated after the historic win by the Indian team.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi Earns Double Honors

In a stellar performance against England in the U-19 World Cup 2026 final, Vaibhav Suryavanshi was awarded both Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament. Vaibhav became the first player in U-19 World Cup history to win both Player of the Final and Player of the Tournament. He dedicated these awards to his support staff.
