The Russia-Ukraine conflict has been ongoing for a considerable time, with reports of missile attacks from both sides persistently making headlines. U.S. President Donald Trump has made numerous attempts to mediate and put a stop to this war, yet a resolution has remained elusive. Now, Trump plans to wield his 'Tariff Bomb' to halt the war, issuing a significant warning to Russia. The U.S. President has straightforwardly communicated to Russia that the war must cease, or they will face hefty tariffs. A timeline for action has been established.

'Halt the War in 50 Days, or Else…'

According to an Associated Press report, President Donald Trump warned Russia on Monday, declaring that if a ceasefire is not reached in the Ukraine conflict within 50 days, they should brace for substantial tariffs. Russia, and potentially its trade partners, will face significant tariffs thereafter.

During a meeting with NATO Secretary Mark Rutte in the Oval Office, Trump stated, 'If no agreement is reached within 50 days, we'll impose incredibly large and stringent tariffs.' He clarified that these will be secondary tariffs, also targeting nations doing business with Russia, thereby isolating Moscow economically.

Will Trump's Strategy Work?

President Trump's numerous attempts to intervene in the Russia-Ukraine standoff have yet to yield results. This latest bold remark underlines Trump’s rigorous stance towards Russian President Vladimir Putin. By leveraging economic measures, Trump seeks to intensify pressure on Russia. NATO Secretary Rutte mentioned that this new setup might compel Putin to reconsider peace talks.

100% Tariff Threat Looms for Russia

Reports suggest that, according to a White House official, if the Russia-Ukraine war remains unresolved after 50 days, President Trump might impose a 100% tariff on Russia. Additionally, secondary tariffs could target countries purchasing oil from Russia.

Trump Tariffs Already Affect Several Nations

To date, the U.S. has declared new tariffs on approximately 25 nations, dubbed Trump Tariffs, providing letters explaining the tariffs' reasons and the implementation date of August 1st. Contrary to prior lists, Russia was not included, but Trump's recent statement presents a stringent ultimatum.

So far, nations affected by Trump's tariffs include Brazil (50%), Myanmar-Laos (40%), Cambodia-Thailand (36%), Bangladesh-Serbia-Canada (35%), Indonesia (32%), Mexico-European Union-South Africa-Bosnia and Herzegovina-Algeria-Iraq-Libya-Sri Lanka (30%), and Japan-Kazakhstan-Malaysia-South Korea-Tunisia-Philippines-Brunei-Moldova (25%).
