On August 15th, US President Donald Trump described his upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska as a 'meeting of experience'. He intends to urge Putin to end the Ukraine war.

Trump also emphasized that he would understand within the first two minutes of the meeting if Russia is willing to reach an agreement on ending the war. After meeting with Putin, President Trump plans to hold discussions with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Zelensky Not Attending Alaska Meeting: Trump

Trump suggested that a future meeting could include Zelensky or both, Putin and Zelensky. However, he clarified that Zelensky will not attend the Alaska meeting. The U.S. President aims to negotiate returning certain territories to Ukraine in discussions with the Russian leader.

Trump mentioned the possibility of exchanging territories between the nations as part of any agreement. Reinforcing his dedication to ending the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, he expressed optimism for productive conversations with Putin. Establishing a ceasefire remains his top priority.

Sanctions Assured if Russia Doesn't Comply: Trump

He indicated that if Russia is unwilling to compromise, significant economic measures, including secondary sanctions on Russian oil trade, might be enforced. This meeting is considered a pivotal moment in global diplomacy as it could influence the Ukraine war and global trade dynamics.
