In Uttar Pradesh's Banda district, a cunning gang of women from Maharashtra was exposed by the police. This gang skillfully boarded auto-rickshaws, engaged women in conversation, and swiftly stole their jewelry.
The Banda police arrested four women after examining more than a dozen CCTV footages, sending them to jail. From them, the police recovered stolen jewelry and approximately 50,000 rupees in cash.

According to the police, the arrested women are residents of Nagpur, Maharashtra. They sold children's toys and balloons in Banda and nearby districts, where they committed pickpocketing incidents in crowded areas.

Lately, Banda has seen an uptick in theft incidents, prompting the Superintendent of Police to form two special task forces. They uncovered that these women would start a journey with female passengers in autos or e-rickshaws and engage them in conversation to stealthily remove and pocket the jewelry, fleeing the scene afterward. They then sold the stolen jewelry for cash at undervalued prices.

Police's Statement on the Arrest
ASP Shivraj explained that during security duty at Raksha Bandhan and Kajli fair, the task force apprehended the female thieves red-handed. Upon questioning, the thieves admitted to their crimes and revealed that other gang members were active in nearby districts. The police are now identifying and locating these additional members, and the women have been placed in judicial custody as their criminal backgrounds are being examined.
