In the village of Risaura in Banda, Uttar Pradesh, a tragic incident left everyone in shock on Sunday. A woman, distraught over a domestic dispute, leaped into the Ken Canal with her three innocent children, resulting in all four losing their lives.
A Mother’s Desperate Act
The deceased have been identified as Reena, 35, her nine-year-old son Himanshu, four-year-old son Prince, and their two-year-old brother. According to the police, Reena had an argument with her husband Akhilesh over a domestic issue. Following the dispute, she left home with her three children.
As their search for Reena and the children remained fruitless for a long time, the family began searching the village and nearby areas. Suspicion grew when some of Reena's belongings were found near the canal, prompting them to notify the police. Upon arrival, the police, with the help of divers, began a comprehensive search of the canal. Within a short time, the bodies were found bound together with clothes inside the canal.
Police Investigate the Tragedy
The police took possession of all the bodies and conducted an inquest before sending them to the morgue for autopsy. Villagers, engulfed by grief, gathered at the scene in large numbers.
ASP Shivraj explained that the woman had a domestic dispute with her husband. Akhilesh is being interrogated in custody as the woman’s relatives have also arrived. The police are examining the case from every angle.
For now, only after the post-mortem report and further investigation will it become clear whether this incident was a suicide or if there’s another motive behind it. However, the death of four members of the same family has plunged the village and surrounding area into deep shock.
