On Wednesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the White House to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump. This was the first meeting with a foreign leader since Trump's inauguration on January 20. Following their extensive discussions, they held a joint press conference. President Trump stated, "We want America to take ownership of the Gaza Strip and develop it." He emphasized America's intent to reclaim the war-torn Palestinian territory, develop it, and maintain ownership.

Standing alongside Trump, Netanyahu remarked that the Republican leader's vision could change history and imagined a new future for Gaza.

Jobs and Homes for Gazans: Trump

President Trump declared, "We will assert our authority over Gaza, destroying all dangerous bombs and weapons present. Our plan includes demolishing ruined buildings and fostering economic development that provides countless jobs and housing for the region's people."

When questioned about deploying troops to fill any security voids in the area, Trump reassured, "We will do what is necessary. If required, we will act accordingly."

Trump envisions a global community residing in Gaza post-development. He plans to visit Gaza, Israel, and Saudi Arabia during his forthcoming Middle Eastern tour, although he did not specify dates.

'Gaza: A Complete Wreck'

When asked about reactions from Palestinian and Arab leaders regarding his proposal, Trump commented, "Discussing Gaza has never succeeded. It's a complete wreck. If we can find the right land and invest heavily to create some fantastic places, they will thrive. I'm sure it's preferable to returning to Gaza. The people here would prefer to leave Gaza. I'm fairly certain they'd be thrilled. I'm not sure how the Palestinians might want to stay."

Trump addressed America's potential long-term control, stating, "I envision a situation of long-term ownership."

Trump suggested that American involvement would promote stability in the region, highlighting, "This decision hasn't been taken lightly. People I've spoken with are elated at the thought of the United States holding a piece of that land."

Netanyahu praises Trump as Israel's best friend

Netanyahu hailed Trump as Israel's best ally to reside in the White House. During the press conference, he expressed gratitude for Trump's strong defense of Israel, earning great respect among Israelis. Netanyahu pointed out, "You have released the weapons previously held back from Israel." This reference was to the decision to lift the Biden administration's suspension of 2,000-pound bombs sent to Israel amid civilian casualties concerns in Gaza.

Netanyahu acknowledged Trump's remarkable promise-keeping, stating, "When people are shocked, they scratch their heads and say, 'You know, he's right.'"

He further added that Israel would win the ongoing fight with Hamas, ending the war, and that Israel's victory is America's victory.
