Bihar resonates once more with the dreadful echo of gunfire. In a horrifying turn of events, a family of three, including a child, was mercilessly shot to death. The incident unfolded in the Navtoliya locality under the jurisdiction of Gopalpur police. Chandan (40), his wife Chandani (23), and daughter Roshni (2) were the victims.
According to a news agency, the couple had married three years prior, out of love. The father and brother of the wife stand accused of the killings. It appears that there was romantic involvement between Chandan and Chandani, which deeply unsettled her family leading to this violent act.
Chandan's brother recounted that Pappu Singh, the girl's father, was working close to their home. He first attacked them with a rod, followed by the son, Dheeraj, arriving at the scene and opening fire, causing their immediate demise. Chandan owned two houses in Navtoliya; one located by the roadside, where his parents lived, and another inside the village where he resided with his family. He was visiting his parent's place to check on their health when the tragedy struck. Both assailants have fled the scene since the incident.
The newly appointed Sub-Divisional Police Officer Om Prakash Arun disclosed that teams have been formed to secure the arrest of the father and son. It is a family slaughter in a case of a love affair, stemming from parental disapproval of a marriage three years ago. Seizing the opportunity, the girl's father initially launched a vicious rod assault before shooting all three. Raids are underway to apprehend the criminals swiftly.
