The Delhi legislative assembly elections are scheduled for February. In preparation, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Congress, and BJP have begun their campaigns. AAP has already announced candidates for all seats. They released their fourth and final list on Sunday, naming 38 candidates, including party supremo Arvind Kejriwal, who will contest from the New Delhi assembly seat. Sandeep Dikshit is the Congress candidate for this seat, while BJP has not finalized a candidate yet. However, BJP leader Pravesh Verma has hinted at running from this seat.

Pravesh Verma informed Aaj Tak that Congress has decided on Sandeep Dikshit for the New Delhi seat, and while the BJP list is pending, he has been directed to prepare for New Delhi. He aims to contest the election against Arvind Kejriwal.

In an exclusive conversation with Aaj Tak, Pravesh Sahib Singh Verma claimed that the party asked him to contest. He criticized Kejriwal, noting that Kejriwal, who claims to be a common man, actually lives like a VIP, residing in luxury, and has achieved little for the public in New Delhi.

To note, Pravesh Verma is a former Member of Parliament from West Delhi and the son of former Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma. Congress has fielded Sandeep Dikshit, son of former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, from this seat as well.

Sandeep Dikshit has been politically attacking Arvind Kejriwal for a long time and is expected to aggressively campaign against him in this high-profile contest. Although BJP has not officially announced their candidate, former MP from West Delhi, Pravesh Sahib Singh Verma, is determined to challenge Kejriwal. Thus, this New Delhi seat contest will be a battle among two former chief ministers' sons and Arvind Kejriwal.
