A tragic shooting at a school in Austria has resulted in the death of 11 individuals. According to Austrian broadcaster ORF, the Ministry of the Interior reported that several people lost their lives during this unfortunate event, which took place in a school in the southeastern city of Graz and included the suspect among the deceased.
The shooter, reportedly a student, opened fire in two classrooms and was later found dead in a restroom. While the shooter's motive is not entirely clear, it could possibly be linked to bullying. Several videos related to the incident are circulating on social media.
Austrian police have been conducting a large-scale operation in the city since they received reports of gunfire from the school at 10 a.m. According to Austrian broadcasters, several students and teachers sustained injuries in the shooting. Social media is rife with viral videos showing police deployment outside the school, and one video captures evacuations via helicopter.
Police in Austria have confirmed that they are conducting an operation in the area where the affected secondary school is located. The premises have been searched thoroughly, and the entire school area has been cordoned off.
The Krone newspaper reported that a female teacher's husband mentioned she was in the classroom with her students during the shooting and heard multiple gunshots.
Following the incident, students were reunited with their parents, and the injured are receiving medical care. Notably, this shooting occurred just before the tenth anniversary of a shooting in Graz on June 20, 2015, which resulted in the deaths of three individuals.
