In a heart-wrenching incident in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur, a young man barged into his girlfriend's house and opened fire. He then turned the gun on himself, ending his life. The sound of gunfire drew the young woman's family and neighbors, only to discover her critically wounded and the young man lifeless. Upon receiving the information, police and forensic teams arrived to investigate the scene. The injured young woman was rushed to the district hospital for urgent treatment, and the young man's body was sent for postmortem.
The deceased, identified as Rajan, hailed from the village of Bhayla under the Devband police station jurisdiction. He was in love with Shivani, a 24-year-old woman from Tajpur village in Nagal. Rajan often visited Shivani during his frequent trips to his aunt in Tajpur, eventually leading to a romance between them.
Their families were eventually aware of their relationship and, after some persuading, agreed to the wedding plans. However, the situation took a turn when an argument broke out between Rajan and Shivani, prompting Shivani to call off the wedding.
Seething with anger, Rajan stormed to Shivani's house with a firearm. Upon seeing his beloved, he drew the gun and shot her, leaving Shivani bleeding on the ground. The shocking sound of gunfire quickly gathered the family and locals at the scene.
In a desperate attempt to escape, Rajan fled, only to eventually take his own life in a nearby field. The locals immediately alerted the police of the unfolding tragedy.
When the police arrived, they sent the injured woman to the district hospital and took custody of Rajan's body for further examination. Investigations are ongoing, with families being questioned.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Vipin Tada, noted that initial reports indicated a romantic involvement between the two, but escalating tension over wedding arrangements led to the tragedy. Currently, senior officials have visited the scene, and peace has been restored. Legal measures will be pursued.
