In the Kakadeo police station area of Kanpur, a 19-year-old student tragically ended her life by hanging. This sad event occurred in the hostel located in Raniganj, owned by Samajwadi Party MLA Amitabh Bajpai. The deceased has been identified as Palak Dhar from Farrukhabad, a radiology student at Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University. Palak had sent her younger sister and roommate out to buy medicine, after which she took this heartbreaking step.

Heartbreaking Scene After Door Broken

When Palak's sister Deepti and roommate Aaradhya returned, they found the room door locked. Despite repeatedly calling and knocking, they received no response. They alerted other hostel residents and the warden. Fearing the worst, the police were called. When the police broke down the door, Palak was found hanging from the fan. No suicide note was found at the scene. The incident took place on Sunday night.

Mental Strain Cited as Cause

According to Inspector Rajesh Sharma, initial investigations suggest that the student was long on medication for depression and anxiety. The police believe that mental stress drove her to this extreme step. Palak's father, Dr. Abhedu Kumar Dhar, is a cardiologist in Farrukhabad. The family is devastated and overwhelmed with grief by the news of their daughter's passing.

Further Investigation Underway

The police have sent the body for post-mortem and are questioning family members. They are trying to ascertain what troubled Palak so much that she resorted to this action. This incident has once again highlighted issues regarding mental health among students.
