In the Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh, a tale of love ignited by social media led to the untimely demise of a teenage girl. Fourteen-year-old Aarushi Lokre, hailing from Mumbai, found a connection with 18-year-old Chirag Rathore via Instagram. Within just two months, their friendship blossomed into a romantic relationship, despite the geographical distance, as Chirag resided in the rural landscape of Jaluud village in Mandleshwar.
Chirag's birthday was just two days ago, and Aarushi, driven by the fervor of young love, traveled from Mumbai to Khargone, unbeknownst to her family, to celebrate the occasion. Their families, showing concern, tried to counsel the young lovers and informed Aarushi's family of the situation. Unfortunately, this guidance was not well received, pushing the distressed couple toward a drastic decision.
A Desperate Leap
Alarmed by the cries echoing across the fields, women working nearby ran to the well. Quick-thinking tractor driver Govind Devra acted heroically, plunging into the well with the assistance of other locals, to pull both youngsters out. Tragically, Aarushi succumbed at the scene, while Chirag was swiftly transported to an adjacent hospital for immediate medical care.
Authorities promptly informed Aarushi's family, conducted a post-mortem, and continued their investigation by transferring the case to Mumbai's station. Meanwhile, the girl's family had previously filed a missing person and abduction report with the Mira Bhayandar police station.
This incident starkly highlights the volatile nature of decisions made in youth and the consequences that can arise from relationships forged on social media platforms. The local police are diligently investigating the case and considering preventative measures to avert such incidents in the future.
