Security forces continue their relentless operations against terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. On Monday morning, a search operation turned into an encounter with terrorists in the Redwani Pine area of Kulgam in South Kashmir, which is ongoing. The Jammu and Kashmir Police, together with security forces, have taken charge of the situation. Amidst this, reports have emerged that Lashkar's top commander, Basit Ahmad Dar, has been surrounded in this encounter at Kulgam.
Last year, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) declared a cash reward of 10 lakh rupees on Basit Ahmad Dar, a commander of Lashkar's affiliate group, The Resistance Front (TRF). The reward was announced in connection with case number 32/2021/NIA/DLI against Basit Ahmad Dar, a resident of Redwani Pine in Kulgam.

Officials suggest that Basit was the mastermind behind several murders. A resident of Redwani in Kulgam, Basit had been missing from his home since April 2022 and had joined Lashkar-e-Taiba's front organization, The Resistance Front (TRF).
Terrorist Attack Occured on May 4th
It is important to note that on the 4th of May, terrorists launched an ambush attack on an Indian Air Force (IAF) convoy in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. According to security officials, one IAF personnel was martyred, and four others were injured in the attack. The attack occurred on a Saturday evening as the air force convoy was heading towards Sanai Top in the Surankote area. A large-scale search operation has been initiated to locate and neutralize the terrorists involved in the attack.

Second Attack This Year
This is the second attack on security forces in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir this year. In January, a convoy of the army was heavily fired upon by suspected terrorists. Security officials suspect the involvement of the same terrorist group in the attack on the IAF convoy, which also conducted an ambush attack on army vehicles in the Bufaliyaz area on December 21st last year, resulting in four soldiers killed and three wounded.
