Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau reported 50 masked individuals blockading and setting fires in Bordeaux. Traffic between Toulouse and Auch in southwest France came to a standstill. In Paris, about 75 people were arrested during morning protests, though reasons for these were undisclosed.
France’s Interior Ministry has deployed over 80,000 security personnel nationwide, including 6,000 stationed in Paris alone. Within hours of the protest's onset, more than 200 people were arrested countrywide. French media predicts the participation of over 100,000 people, protesting budget cuts, workplace culture changes, and the new PM’s appointment.
