Children up to 12 years of age usually require supervision during playtime. But what happens when a toddler is left completely alone for two days? One would expect the worst considering their dependency on parents for even the basic needs. Yet, here's a shocking case from Mississippi where a one-year-old bravely wandered the highway for two full days.

According to The New York Post, the child incredibly survived severe storms and rainfall, emerging miraculously unharmed. This incident took place in the United States, in Mississippi. Following the ordeal, Aaliyah Jack, the 25-year-old mother, was arrested.

The whole incident came to light when the lifeless body of the child's four-year-old brother was discovered in a nearby lake two days prior. While the cause of death is yet under investigation, the finding led to the discovery of the second child as reports of another child surfaced, last seen with Aaliyah Jack and suspected to be in danger.

The one-year-old was found with bugs bites but was otherwise safe. Aaliyah Jack was arrested nearly 350 miles away from where the toddlers were found in Mississippi.

At a press conference in Lake Charles, roughly 200 miles west of New Orleans, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Gary Gilory told reporters, "We consider this one-year-old a miracle baby for surviving such grim conditions. The child spent the entire two days right by the highway.

Investigators looking into the sibling's death last saw Jack with her children on Saturday. As the police were preparing to search for the second child in the lake, a lorry driver spotted the toddler by the road and informed the authorities.

An alert for Jack was issued on Monday night, and a Louisiana judge signed a warrant for her arrest. She was apprehended on the grounds of failing to report her missing children. Jack is to be extradited to Louisiana and held on a $300,000 bond. The reasons behind Jack's actions remain unknown at this time.
