The border tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have once again come to the forefront. Both nations agreed to extend a 48-hour ceasefire by mutual consent on Friday.
However, only a few hours after this, the Taliban accused Pakistan of conducting airstrikes in Afghanistan's Paktika province. Pakistan carried out aerial raids in several districts along the Durand Line in Paktika. Tragically, these attacks claimed the lives of three Afghan cricketers.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of their three cricketers in the Pakistani attack.
This unfortunate event occurred in the district of Urgon, Paktika, where Afghan cricketers Kabir, Sibghatullah, and Haroon, among eight others, were killed in a Pakistani forces' attack, with seven more individuals injured.
These players were in Paktika's capital, Sharana, to play a friendly match. They were attacked during a gathering upon returning home to the Urgon district.
The ACB has described this as a significant loss to Afghanistan's sports world and the cricket family. The board extended deep condolences to the families of the martyrs and the people of Paktika.
In response to this tragic incident, the Afghanistan Cricket Board has decided to withdraw from the upcoming Tri-nation T20 series, which included Pakistan. This series was scheduled to take place at the end of November.
The board's statement said, 'May Allah (SWT) grant the martyrs elevated status in paradise, provide swift recovery to the injured, and give patience and strength to the families in these difficult times.'
