The Trinamool Congress will not participate in the India Alliance's meeting on June 1, 2024. Sources indicate TMC has cited the Lok Sabha election's final phase polling on the same day as the reason, keeping top party leaders engaged. According to sources, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has scheduled a meeting of leaders from the India Alliance's constituent parties for the afternoon of June 1. TMC sources stated that the electoral vote in West Bengal for 9 seats, including 2 in Kolkata (South and North) which are crucial for the party, will take place on that day.

Chief Minister Mamata discloses this location

Mamata Banerjee confirmed she will not be present at the India Alliance meeting on June 1, prioritizing the elections in West Bengal. She elaborated that elections are also taking place in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. She noted that sometimes the voting stretches into the night until 10 PM. 'There's a storm on one side, relief work on another, and elections on a third. I might physically be here, but my heart is at the meeting,' she stated.

West Bengal to vote for 9 seats in the seventh phase

The seventh phase sees West Bengal voting for 9 critical seats. This phase carries more significance than any other day for Bengal. It encompasses all seats from Kolkata and Greater Kolkata. TMC sources convey that for the party, the foremost day of election is this seventh phase, which includes other constituencies like Jadavpur, Dum Dum, Barasat, Basirhat, Jaynagar, Mathurapur, and Diamond Harbor.

Meeting on the day of final election phase

It's noteworthy that the India Block has called for an all-party meeting on June 1. This coincides with the last phase of the Lok Sabha elections. Just four days before the announcement of the Lok Sabha Election 2024 results on June 4, the India Alliance has extended invitations to all allied parties to attend the meeting in New Delhi. The meeting's significance is amplified as it takes place the day before Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's anticipated surrender in Tihar Jail.

These leaders invited to the meeting

It is reported that Kejriwal, who is temporarily out on bail until June 1 from the Supreme Court due to alleged money laundering charges related to Delhi's liquor policy, is among the invitees. Sources informed Aaj Tak that the meeting has been convened to discuss and review the India Alliance's performance in the Lok Sabha elections and to strategize its future moves. Key opposition alliance leaders invited include Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, his counterpart from Delhi Arvind Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, and heads of other allied parties.
