The flight landed on schedule at 10 AM in Varanasi, with no delays caused by the incident.
This recent incident is reminiscent of a similar one in June 2024, when a 25-year-old was arrested for trying to open a door onboard an Air India Express flight from Kozhikode to Bahrain, necessitating an emergency landing in Mumbai and assaulting cabin crew.
What Do Indian Aviation Rules Say?
According to Indian aviation regulations, forcibly attempting to enter a cockpit is deemed a serious offense. Penalties can include a sentence of up to two years and a permanent placement on the no-fly list.
