The guilty of the Mumbai attacks, Canadian businessman of Pakistani origin, Tahawwur Rana, has received a significant blow from the US government. The United States has urged the Supreme Court to dismiss his petition. In reality, Rana has filed a petition in the US Supreme Court against his extradition to India.

It is noteworthy that India is requesting the extradition of Tahawwur Rana. He is wanted in connection with the Mumbai terrorist attack case. Prior to this, Rana filed petitions in lower US courts and the Northern Circuit of San Francisco, losing all his legal battles. Subsequently, on November 13, Rana again filed a petition in the US Supreme Court. This is his last legal opportunity to avoid extradition to India. On December 16, US Solicitor General Elizabeth B. Prelogar filed a petition with the Supreme Court to dismiss Rana's appeal.

India to Bring Rana Under Treaty Terms

Earlier, on August 17, Tahawwur Rana, a Canadian businessman of Pakistani origin, faced another major setback in an American court. His appeal against extradition to India was denied, with the court affirming that he is eligible for extradition under the treaty between the two countries. Rana was also implicated in the terror attack.

American Court Finds Him Guilty of Conspiracy

The court found Rana guilty of providing support to a foreign terrorist organization and plotting unsuccessful terrorist attacks in Denmark. While the court dismissed charges for attacks in India, it acknowledged his involvement in the planning of the Mumbai terrorist attack, affirming the need for his extradition to India.
