Surat's criminals are increasingly audacious, targeting a company's staff mere 600 meters from the police station. Between 4 and 5 p.m. on Tuesday, an impostor claiming to be from the tax department robbed 1 crore rupees and fled.
In their report to the police, the victims stated that the criminal posed as a tax officer. They pointed a pistol at all four employees sitting in an Eco car, then fled with the loot. CCTV cameras captured the entire episode, providing crucial evidence for the investigation.
The haul wasn't 8 but a massive 1 crore and 4 lakh rupees
DCP Pinakin Parmar elaborated that Sahajanand Technology manufactures accessories for diamond businesses. The employees were traveling from Katargam to Mahidharpura for a safe deposit when an unknown individual introduced themselves as a tax officer.
Following the victim's complaint, police registered the case and started the investigation
Subsequently, the perpetrator kidnapped them in an Eco car, dropping each off at different locations before absconding with 1 crore rupees and the vehicle. Initially, a heist of 8 crores was speculated, but complainant Kishor Dhirajlal Dudhat confirmed it was 1 crore and 4 lakhs.
