Sharing images of broken seats from a Chandigarh to Delhi Indigo flight, Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar has questioned the airline's management. In response, Indigo stated that their seats are designed with removable cushions and emphasized that passenger safety is their top priority. Just a day prior, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan had complained about finding a broken seat on his Air India flight from Bhopal to Delhi.
On Sunday, in a post on X, Sunil Jakhar mentioned that when he reported the broken seats on January 27, the cabin crew directed him to submit a complaint on the airline's website.
Sunil Jakhar accused Indigo and Air India of adopting a 'careless' attitude and appealed to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to ensure these major airlines do not compromise on safety standards.

He tweeted that Shivraj Singh Chauhan also expressed his dissatisfaction with broken seats found on flights. However, it seems that Air India isn't the sole airline facing such issues. The images from the Chandigarh to Delhi Indigo flight on January 27 show several seat cushions were not securely fitted according to safety standards. The cabin crew politely explained that they couldn’t do much and advised filing a complaint online.
Indigo's Clarification
Responding to Sunil Jakhar's tweet, Indigo clarified, “Sir, our seats are designed with removable cushions, secured with Velcro for ease of cleaning and maintenance. On rare occasions, these cushions may come loose and require adjustment for better seating comfort. Passenger safety is our priority, and seat design is never compromised.”
Shivraj Singh Chauhan Raised Concerns Too
Previously, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan expressed dissatisfaction over a broken seat found on an Air India flight. He noted that he had pre-booked seat 8C, but upon arrival, it was found broken and sunk. Air India promptly responded to the issue, apologized, and stated that an inquiry had been initiated. These incidents have ignited a renewed discussion about aviation safety and passenger experience.
