In the heart of Betul, Madhya Pradesh, a poor widow named Kavita Mali became entangled in a bureaucratic blunder. The Ladli Bahna scheme's portal mistakenly declared her deceased, cutting off her vital installments since August 2024. Despite lodging complaints with the CM Helpline, she hasn't received any relief. While authorities have promised to rectify the portal error, Kavita has spent six months arduously proving she's alive.Resident of Betul Bazaar, Kavita Mali's troubles began when her husband Arvind Mali passed away from a heart attack on March 27, 2023. She applied to remove his name from the council's portal, but instead, her own name was mistakenly removed. Consequently, she was declared dead on the Ladli Bahna portal, halting her monthly installments. Though she had been receiving benefits until August 2024, the funds abruptly ceased.

Kavita's Struggle

Kavita shared, "After my husband's death, I was managing everything alone. My son is mentally weak. Until August, I received the Ladli Bahna installments, but they stopped. At the council, they told me they would start my widow pension and to remove my husband's name. But they declared me dead instead." She added, "I earn Rs. 3,000 a month working at a private clinic and get Rs. 600 from widow pension. It's not enough. I need the Ladli Bahna scheme's benefits."

CM Helpline Ineffectiveness

Kavita complained to CM Helpline 181, but they informed her that once a name is removed, the benefits cannot be reinstated. Meanwhile, the council corrected the error on the portal and restarted her widow pension. Yet, the Ladli Bahna scheme benefits remain elusive. Kavita said, "Despite three amendments to my Integrated ID, they've excluded me from the scheme."

Department's Assurance

Vijay Tiwari, the CMO of Betul Bazaar, stated, "We've written to the Women & Child Development Department about Kavita Mali's case and she'll be assisted promptly."

District officer Gautam at the Women & Child Development Department mentioned, "The error of declaring Kavita deceased is the council's fault. We've contacted senior officials in Bhopal. Efforts to rectify the portal, managed at the Bhopal level, are ongoing."

System's Negligence

Even as Chief Minister Mohan Yadav assures timely installments to Ladli Bahnas, this negligence has severely affected Kavita, a poor woman striving for her rights for six months. This case not only highlights administrative errors but also questions the complexities of government schemes for the underprivileged.
