The family of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose has criticized Bollywood actress and BJP candidate from Mandi seat in Himachal, Kangana Ranaut, over her remarks that claimed Bose was India's first Prime Minister. Last year, in September, Chandra Kumar Bose resigned from the BJP stating that his principles did not align with the party's. His resignation occurred amidst the India versus Bharat controversy.
What did Kangana say?
Kangana Ranaut had erroneously stated that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, not Jawaharlal Nehru, was India's first Prime Minister. Following the backlash for her statement, she shared a screenshot of an article on X, advising her detractors to read history. The article mentioned that Bose had established the Provisional Government of Free India in Singapore in 1943 and declared himself as the first Prime Minister. Kangana claimed in her post that the joke was on those unable to grasp her advanced intelligence, calling them pitiable for their ignorance.
Opposition Leaders Sharply Criticize Kangana's Statement
Following Kangana's contentious remark, some opposition leaders took aim at her. BRS leader and former Chief Minister of Telangana's son, KT Rama Rao, mocked the BJP candidate on X without naming names. He mentioned that a BJP candidate from the north claims Subhas Chandra Bose was our first PM, and another BJP leader from the south claims Mahatma Gandhi held the position. He questioned the education of these individuals.
