NEET Result Controversy:
Nearly 2.4 million candidates took the NEET UG exam on May 5, 2024. The National Testing Agency (NTA) was entrusted with the smooth conduct of one of the toughest examinations in the country, but post-result release, millions are questioning the integrity of NEET. Some aspirants have even approached the Supreme Court. Those leveling accusations against the NTA include high scorers themselves.
High Scorers Also Displeased with NTA
Candidates who scored a perfect 720/720 from Ranchi, Jharkhand, allege that even with their good marks, NTA has cast a dark cloud of uncertainty over their future. Hence, they protested with placards, demanding justice for themselves and urging the NTA to reissue the NEET results. They have also appealed to the Supreme Court to intervene in the matter.
Despite scoring 715 out of a possible 720, Keshav Saurabh Samadarshi accuses the NTA of not providing a deserving rank and lacks transparency. He, along with his peers, demands the NTA to release the results with clarity and provide all candidates' OMR sheets.
Mother's Concern Grows for Daughter's Dreams Amid Chaotic NEET Outcome
Hema from Hazaribagh lost her father when she was one. Her mother, now an Anganwadi worker, had dreamt of becoming a doctor, but her dream was cut short due to an early marriage. Now, she pins her hopes on her daughter, but the NTA's methods and mishandling are dousing her dreams once again.
Hema worked hard and scored 702 points in NEET, but uncertainties like these dampen her spirits. The same narrative resonates with the protestors in Ranchi, and other candidates alike. Hem and her fellow aspirants disagree with the NEET results and remain unsatisfied with NTA's responses, especially concerning grace marks.
Coaching Teachers Demand Review of NEET Results
Coaching teachers preparing students for NEET are also dissatisfied with NTA's approach. They contend that the future of candidates is being played with and suggest the NTA should review and reissue the NEET results.
DU-JNU Student Unions to Protest Against NTA, Highlighting Various Issues Beyond NEET
Student organizations from the Students' Federation of India (SFI) and All India Students Association (AISA) are set to jointly protest against the NTA's handling of NEET discrepancies. Students from Delhi University and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) will demonstrate at Shastri Bhawan in Delhi on June 10th, demanding immediate justice for students affected by NEET malpractices, stopping UGC NET mandatory requirement for PhD admissions, and ceasing the centralization of education through CUET, PG, and other exams, while calling for the disbandment of the incompetent NTA.
